Notable Drop: Loot (for Adventurers)
While the entire NFT community waited for Dominik Hofmann’s Supdrive on-chain gaming console, he dropped a project called Loot (for Adventurers).
The genesis of Loot was 8,888 randomly-generated “loot bag” NFTs that contained 8 items. Like the one featured below:
What made this drop particularly different is that Dom didn’t specify the rarity or characteristics of any of the pieces. Instead, he wanted to inspire the collectors and other developers to create derivative projects that make the initial Loot bags meaningful and useful.
In other words, it’s the first open-source fantasy game involving NFTs. Somewhat of an on-chain Dungeons & Dragons.
The result is an extensive and impressive list of derivative projects. Some of the notable ones include:
- Loot Descriptions — AI-based role-playing descriptions
- Realms — Realm Wonders forked from @UnchartedAtlas
- Loot Characters — Characters for your bags
- Loot Personalities v0.1 — Provide a backstory for your adventurer
- Banquets — Randomized adventurer meals
- Abodes — Randomized adventurer dwellings
- Maps — Journey maps and location names for your Loot Adventures
To describe what the derivative projects mean, for example, Realms are 8,000 procedurally generated realms (maps) that Loot owners can own and “explore”.
It’s a storytelling-based NFT. Who knows what stories people will spin off of Loot. But the community is strong. Not to mention, Loot’s floor price is already at ~16 ETH with a total volume traded of more than 41,000 ETH.
Consider Buying: G’EVOLs
I’m really intrigued by the G’EVOLs project by KidEight. The art direction is incredible and quite frankly, bad ass.
- # of editions: 8,888
- Price floor: 0.6 ETH
- Big Sales: 33 editions have sold over 3 ETH, 1 edition sold for 25 ETH
While the entire thing is cool, there’s one part of this project roadmap that caught my attention.
They’re creating EVOL Toy Figurines.
This will be the first toy that has an NFT accompanying it. Why is that important? Well, it creates two forms of collectible that can improve the value of the project.
If the EVOL Toy becomes as popular of a collectible as something like a Funko POP! then everyone is going to want to own their toy and NFT pairing.
It’s a project I’m strongly considering and I think you may want to as well.
